Dignity Is Not Gangsta
Young Buck's latest street track, "Letter to the Labels," which begins with the perpetually bad sign of "I don't need no hook for this," is like the anti-Drake in terms of building buzz to get major label attention. Facing independence following his crying fit with 50 Cent (yes, we all still remember that, teardrop), Young Buck puts together a two minute, twenty second ode to PLEASE OH PLEASE GIVE ME A JOB BECAUSE I NEED SOME CASH. You know what labels probably don't want right about now? A guy who needs them to sign him, because with nobody selling the odds are good that the streets are the ones telling them what they need to get behind, not the rappers themselves.
Equaly good is the list of labels he asks to sign him. Jive? Yeah, that worked out great for the Clipse. Papoose would rather have DJ Kay Slay managing his career than Jive Records. Grand Hustle? Dude, Alfamega just got kicked out; there's no way T.I. is bringing in a dude who bawled on tape to 50 Cent. CTE? Really? We're begging to be Jeezy's lackey now? Rocafella and Bad Boy? So, releasing an album is no longer a priority of yours? And Ruff Ryders? Do they still exist as anything other than a motorcycle repair company? D-Block? No, do that. Go ahead. You'll be the most interesting guest spot on Sheek's album.
His next track should be all about his proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
